Vintage Selmer 24B Trumpet- Superb. Museum Grade- Martin Committee Killer! This auction is brought to you by people who care. A n exceptional. Museum grade example, this classic mid'50's Selmer is both a wonderful player, and a beautiful piece of history. The horn is unmolested, with no repairs, and only very slight finish wear.

The first valve slide in fact kept pulling itself back in while I was photographing the horn, and I had to release pressure by depressing the valve. Even after 10 seconds, compression remained, and the valve made a nice'thump! Exceptional fit, and very supple feel. The bell engraving is gorgeous.

And represents Selmer's finest Mark VI era style. Engraving is sharp, and the original cellulose laquer is a beautiful dark amber color. The horn plays like a dream. With great intonation, firm slotting, and an ease of play that brings it in line with modern horns By Schilke, Bach and Yamaha. Tone, however, is lush and dark, this instrument is all vintage.

Close to a Martin Committee I would say. Questions about this horn. Or upcoming instruments, please call Randy at Please check my current and upcoming listing for the following vintage gear: Martin Handcraft Imperial trum.

This is the famous model developed with the help of the great Maurice Andre with the very unique valve section design. This trumpet is in used and played condition but fully functional. I have measured the bore and it came to 0.

This is model 75 as it says on the mouthpiece receiver. Serial is in the 58xxx range! When this horn arrived it had no finger saddle on the leadpipe so I asked my repairman to add the one I had so now it has saddle from Martin Committee which is kind of similar to Selmer and works fine also raw brass. Another thing there was no 3rd slide stopper screw so One more very interesting feature on this horn is a 1st valve trigger which also has a stopper screws and you can stop this slide in slightly opened or closed position depends who you adjust rod and screws.

I have never seen this feature on any other trumpet before. So to condition overall is very good and please see all photos. I see that there was a dent repaired on the part bottom edge of the bell I tried to show that on photo. Compression is fine and horn plays very well. Mouthpiece is in good condition. I am not sure which model it fits.

The original lyre and"info hand tag" not pictured will be included! Mechanically everything works well and valve compression is very good with great looking plating on the pistons.

Original lacquer finish with some wear, but not bad. There is a spot of what looks like acid bleed on the 1st casing and if you look at the shots of the engraving, you will see red spots-I don't think this is red rot, though. Some dent work was done on the bell flair. This horn is sound, straight, and had an easy life. NOTE-If the"buy it now" option is taken. I will ship this horn with a used Walt Johnson case-this case is If no buy it now, I will ship with a 50's era tweed case that is solid but pretty ugly and unfortunately kind of smelly!

And the price at the end of the auction will be the value on the customs form. Paris Selmer Grand Prix trumpet Model This is a Paris Selmer trumpet from according to the serial number. It is a a medium bore instrument with a 20 leadpipe. I believe that the dark lacquer left on this instrument is original.

And you can still feel the engraving-it is sharp. Speaking of, this horn is engraved up the bell past the 1st valve-not so common on these. Not so good points-the"quick stop to A" mechanism on the main tuning slide is missing, the lacquer does look a bit here and there, there is plating worn on the valves and compression is moderate-heavy valve oil helps how the horn plays, but it could use a valve rebuild.

The bell flare has had quite a bit of dent work done. The original 1st valve bottom cap was replaced and two of the finger buttons are not original.

Good points-engraving and logo are clear and sharp, everything is working mechanically, Leadpipe is clean as is the rest of the horn no red rot anywhere. The 3rd slide works great. Included will be a very nice vintage non-original case that doesn't hold the horn very close.

Selmer made quality horns, and this one is cool! One last detail, the mouthpiece receiver has been modified to have a closer gap with Bach-style mouthpieces.

Kind of like the idea behind the later K-Modified Selmers. Buyers outside the US-your country may charge you tariff or import fees. And the actual auction end price will be the value on the customs form. Very Nice Horn! Look at Pic's. Comes with a Decent Hardshell Selmer Case!

Cleaning brushes were run through every passage on the horn and the it was thoroughly rinsed and dried. The trumpet includes new valve stem felts. I'm not sure if it ever came out again till now! The center valve sticks and only one slide comes out easily. Serial This is a Selmer K-Modified trumpet.

Model 24B, in gold plate, circa 's. This is a nice clean horn and there are no issues with red-rot or other dibilitating problems. The horn does have a couple of issues however: 1. Some of the engraving on the bell is not as sharp as it should be probably due to over-zealous polishing before it was plated Not the biggest deal in the world.

But worth mentioning. It does not affect the sound of the horn at all. The second valve slide is not as tight as I would like it to be. It does not fall out. But it think the slide could be expanded just a tweak. I have played this horn a lot and never experienced any leakage or other problems.

These are the only issues with the horn and I would be remiss The valves are silky smooth and fast. Water key corks OK as are the felts on the valve section. There is no case or mouthpiece included, as I am sure you would prefer your own. This is a great playing trumpet and I am reluctant to sell it. But just have too many horns in the house.
