Divya R. Click LAN Settings. Enter a network name, which will be seen by wireless devices. Configure security options. I had to fall back to WEP if I wanted any security a wide open connection worked fine, too.

WEP needs you to enter a 5 or 13 character "seed" which creates a hexadecimal password. That created password is what you'll need to enter when connecting with wireless clients. Allow internet connection sharing Open View network connections from the Windows Start menu. Open Properties on the currently active wired Local Area Connection. Select the Sharing tab and check Allow other network users to connect etc.

Then choose the Wireless Network Connection option from the dropdown. I have sent my trace report to Hui Shen but I am a bit confused about the 'try to repreduce the problem'. In other words: how can a trace report tell why the iPhone does not obtain a valid IP address?

If you ask me it should be the trace report from the iPhone that should be useful. Anyway - i recognize that the problem is related to the way Windows 7 pools the IP-address now that Vista works okay. The stupid question: who not just look at the way Vista does it and then implement the same method in W7? Easily connect any number of WiFi enabled devices to your network including laptops, phones, gaming systems, and more.

Windows 7 assing I write in my iphone configuration I have tried both "Connectify" and Windows 7 native ad-hoc connection setup manually. I was able to succeed to connect iPhone with both connections in seperate instances but both have stability problem. Once it got disconnected it is very difficult to reconnect.

Another problem I find is the hardcored Gateway address I already have a router running in the network with the same address and I don't want to change it's address. How we can change the gateway address on windows 7 native Ad-hoc connection ie from I still have such problem no matter I switch off the security or not. May I know does anyone can help me to solve? My problem seems to be solved. Now I used another USB adaptor Alfa long range Taiwan made and infact was much cheaper than linksys and now I can almost connect iPhone to Wifi internet with minimal of interruptions.

So the these problems might be related to either the installed drivers for wireless adaptor or either the problems of hardware it self. Regarding hardcored gateway address I don't remember the exact places to be edited, But search for " After this the network gateway conflict problem was solved iPhone got ip address in the new gateway address series.

Now it's working fine. First of all remove the generic drivers of Windows 7. Download the drivers of the wireless network card from manufacturers site and install. Resurrecting this thread from the dead.. I must lower the security to WEP. Any ideas? Was anyone else ever able to accomplish this? I connected to my laptop, which is connected to internet via ethernet, via wifi on my iPad2; security is WPA2.

Go to Start. Type cmd in search box. Right click on cmd. Click run as administrator. Local Area Connection or Wireless Network Connection; to enable ICS, right click on internet connection and select properties; choose sharing tab up above; ensure check by Allow other network users to connect I gave up about times over the last hours trying to figure this s 1t out, anyway Straight Adhoc did not work for me no matter what. Got connected etc but no data coming through. You must do a clean bridge, forget about ICS etc.

This is so freaking frustrating Once I create the ad-hoc network and try to join it from my iPhone, first it only works with Open or WEP what is this, ? The iPhone thinks it's connected but obviously never gets an IP address assigned, so it doesn't work. The only thing that has worked for me is JarheadBuckeye's solution of creating a hosted network as a wireless access point, and it even connects with WPA2-Personal, so that's an extra benefit.

I did have a lot of problems even doing this until I updated my driver, but not it seems to be working The problem is that this seems to be rather manual requiring you to start the hosted network manually every time you reboot or every time you want to use it. The added bonus is that this would even work to share your WiFi internet connection over the same WiFi interface as it uses the virtual WiFi miniport adapter to create a virtual wireless interface so you essentially have two network interfaces There is a general problem with two entities introducing proprietary or non-standard inelegant solutions to straightforward implementations.

This worked for me And is very easy to implement: " I have this problem as well and nothing seemed to work for me. I am a normal girl so I don't really know these technical terms you're using sorry in advance. I set up a ad hoc network a month ago, and read in Apple forums that a WEP password with "32"bit password works perfectly. Found a password generator and created the 32bit password from there.

It worked fine for a month, now it stopped working. I live in a student dorm, and the internet here is wired local and you have specific IP settings to get connected to it. I don't want to pay extra for a wireless connection, so I really need to solve this problem. As I said, the "32"bit WEP password worked fine for me for almost a month, then the connection started to worsen and now it's totally dead. If someone could help I would be very grateful I have also win7, on my local connection there is the "Atheros AR" and on my wireless "Atheros AR".

After trying pretty much everything else command line, adhoc mode, Connectify, virtual router etc , this was the onloy solution that worked for me!!! Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Windows Client. Sign in. United States English. Ask a question. Quick access.
