Bruthen and District residents were also advised to evacuate on several occasions. The thick smoke and threat of fires resulted in the District being closed to visitors for about a month.

The Blues Festival was canceled due to the risk of heavy smoke and bushfires. The unresolved complexities and restrictions associated with the Covid 19 pandemic in and led the festival organisers to reluctantly cancel the event. The Bruthen Arts and Events Council is planning to be back in February for a full-on celebration of the 25th Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival with accessible, quality music and arts activities.
