For years, one of my dreams was to visit Spain, specifically Andalusia, but I always had to postpone the trip for some reason. The program for students over 50 at don Quijote helped me make my decision. Having the chance to improve my Spanish during my two-week vacation made me so excited.

This program helped me discover the culture that surrounds the traditional festival of Semana Santa in Malaga. Spanish is not only learned in a classroom. We have a unique educational system that mixes classroom study with real world Spanish practice. Each week of class consists of four days of classroom lessons with one day of active lessons. In active lessons the students are taken out into the city to use their Spanish in a real world context. Why is our school named "Calli"? Calli represents the "home" on the Aztec Caledar.

It represents a day that is best spent building relationships and cultivating mutual interests. Also, SSA is an excellent resource for universities seeking support for faculty-led programs to fascinating Cuba.
